The LYDA Dream Development Centre

This is the dream application arm of the NGO. It is a platform that helps match the philanthropic desires of successful individuals with those desirous to learn from them. At DDC, we aim to empower each participant to create, sustain and grow their businesses, moving them from unemployment or underemployment. Our goal is to drive economic growth by the power of entrepreneurship.

Our Dreams Development Centre’s tuition-free training intervention program started in 2018. Thus far, we have had 541 participants in 2 locations; Lagos and Cross Rivers states in Nigeria. The result of these is a total of 227 businesses created within the Nigerian economy, lifting these individuals above the poverty line and providing sustainable and profitable source of livelihood.

This is achieved through a specially designed 3-tier dream program which enrolled participants from the conference can partake of.
The Accelerated Skills Acquisition Program (ASAP):

This is a two weeks intensive professional training. Participants are matched with the most successful business leaders in certain industries such as Photography, Digital Marketing, Mixology and Finger foods, Hair making.

The Accelerated Business Skills Acquisition Program (ABSAP):

This runs simultaneously with ASAP to teach participants on the business of their skill in order to equip them to establish successful business ventures as they proceed to build their dreams.

The Capstone Personal Development Program (CPDP):

The CPDP is designed to teach and empower participants with basic emotional intelligence, leadership, and development skills required to improve their mindset to that of a winner and help them develop interpersonal competencies needed to sustain their enterprises.

Apprenticeship/
Internships

After the ASAP and ABSAP programs, participants are opportune to take part in internship/apprenticeship programs. The goal is to help them have hands-on practical experience in their chosen fields. We leverage our relationships /goodwill to create apprenticeship opportunities with our partner facilitators. The goal is to make it a win-win; where the interns work for our facilitators in exchange for exposure and learning.

Pay It Forward Projects

Our Pay It Forward initiative which is the third tier of our learning system instills the virtues of social responsibility in our DDC Alumni. Of necessity, they are required to train another group of participants with the knowledge they have freely received. They have also embarked on continuous training interventions to equip those in their grassroots with the requisite knowledge gained from our program. With the intention to increase social consciousness by creating a chain reaction with our interventions, more people are being impacted through this network of individuals. Consequently, new businesses have been emerged from our second-tier beneficiaries, hence disrupting the systems that allow for extreme poverty to exist.
